Venue vs inventory location
Summary: Every location in Live Events is either a venue or an inventory site — here's how the two types differ and when to use each.
Every location is one of two types. The Inventory location toggle on the location form decides which: when it's off, the location is a venue; when it's on, it's an inventory location. Each type shows a matching badge on the Locations page.
Venue
A venue is where events take place. You schedule events against venues, and each venue card shows its Upcoming events count.
- Requires a Country and State/Province.
- Supports an Address and Contacts (on-site points of contact).
Inventory location
An inventory location is a stock site — a warehouse, storage room, or trailer — that holds product but isn't where events run. Each inventory card shows its Items and Products counts.
- Does not require a country or state/province.
- Doesn't use the contacts or address fields.
Which to choose
- If events happen there, make it a venue (leave the Inventory location toggle off).
- If it only holds stock, turn the Inventory location toggle on.
You can change a location's type at any time by editing it and flipping the toggle.
