Running an event on Shopify POS
Summary: Everything door staff, cashiers, and managers do on the Live Events tiles in Shopify POS on event day — from advancing the event through to settlement.
Live Events adds a set of tiles to the Shopify POS home screen so your team can run a live event without leaving the register. Each tile opens a modal scoped to the event at your current location: most tiles automatically pick the event happening now (or the closest upcoming one), and you can switch with Change event when more than one is scheduled. If there are no events at the location, the tile prompts you to create one from the Calendar page in the Live Events app in your Shopify admin.
Selling itself happens in the standard Shopify POS cart and checkout — see Shopify's POS help for the basics. The Live Events tiles handle the event-specific work around those sales.
Day-of-event flow
- Advance the event — confirm the right event, set venue splits and credit card fees, choose inventory locations, and record venue Wi-Fi and contacts.
- Sell products — ring up sales on the normal Shopify POS cart; they attach to the event automatically.
- The service fee is added to every cart automatically as an additional processing line.
- Comps are captured automatically when you fully or partially discount a line on a POS order — no separate step.
- Sales estimator — enter expected attendance to project the night's sales from tour history.
- Inventory transfers — move stock in, add to, or pull out of an inventory location as the night runs.
- Settle the event — at the end of the night, enter attendance, choose retainees and payout type, review revenue and comps, capture signatures, and submit.
