Shopify POS App Developer Job Overview

ONELIVE is currently seeking a Shopify POS app developer. This person, under guidance of our President and Director of Ecommerce Development, will be responsible for the build and management of a custom Shopify POS application using best practices and scalable technologies.

Responsibilities

• App Development: Design, develop, and maintain custom Shopify apps specifically for the POS system.
• API Integration: Build and integrate APIs to connect the app with Shopify and other external services, such as CRM systems or fulfillment solutions.
• Feature Implementation: Create core features, merchant-facing dashboards, and tools to enhance the functionality of the POS system.
• POS Functionality: Develop features to manage POS operations, including configuring the system and uploading large product catalogs.
• Automation: Build solutions to automate workflows, possibly using 3rd party integration platforms or custom-built integrations.
• Collaboration: Work with designers, key stakeholders and potentially other developers to translate requirements into a functional product.
• Troubleshooting and Support: Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues to ensure the app runs smoothly.
• Documentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for the application and its systems.
• Code Quality: Follow best practices for clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews.

Requirements

• 4+ years backend development
• Experience using technologies and frameworks like (but not limited to):
  • React
  • Javascript
  • GraphQL
  • Node.js
  • Polaris Web Components
  • Postgres Database & database modeling
  • HTML5
  • CSS3
  • Tailwind
  • Liquid
• Understanding of the full Shopify ecosystem, including but not limited to Shopify APIs.
• Strong liquid syntax capabilities and understanding of how Shopify works "under the hood."
• Familiarity with full stack frameworks.
• Experience with working in a cross-discipline environment with designers and key stakeholders to produce and vet ideas through prototyping early concepts.
• Experience working with multiple Github repositories, workflows and actions in a team setting.
• A solid understanding of cross-browser/platform issues and code solutions, especially on mobile devices.
• Excellent time management, problem solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Proven self-starter who drives projects forward while fostering team collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• History of independently managing Shopify app projects from ideation through completion.
• Exceptional organizational skills with demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of UI / UX principles.
• Proven ability to evaluate solutions through both technical and business lenses, balancing developer efficiency with ROI.
• Track record of making strategic technical decisions that align with business objectives and revenue goals.
