Full-Stack AI Developer (Shopify Plus)

ONELIVE is seeking an AI-focused full-stack developer with strong traditional engineering training. This person will build and manage multiple projects dedicated to the entertainment industry and internal business needs. This requires adopting AI-accelerated workflows, team collaboration, always with security and compliance in mind.

We build and run Shopify Plus technologies at a production scale much larger than most agencies or technology companies. You'll partner with departments across ONELIVE to design and build technology solutions around real business needs. This includes custom Shopify apps, internal tools, AI-powered automations and helping other teams build their own solutions. AI is core to how we work: the right candidate uses AI tools daily, moves faster because of them, and has the engineering depth to know when to trust AI-delivered results (or not).

This is a fully remote role on a launch-driven team. Product drops, campaigns, and deployments don't always land inside a typical 9–5, and we are suited to flex around those moments.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Shopify Plus applications using best practices, leading technologies, and AI-accelerated workflows.
• Partner with departments across ONELIVE to scope and build custom tools, integrations, and AI-powered automations that solve real business problems.
• Help other departments adopt AI tools and build their own solutions, acting as an internal technical enabler.
• Perform code review across the team. Including critical review of AI-generated code. Holding all work to our quality and security standards.
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team of developers, designers, and managers to build solutions through custom development.
• Ensure cross-platform optimization on all devices.
• Support launches, releases, and deployments, including time-sensitive release windows.
• Build with security and compliance in mind at every step, from data handling to dependency management.

Requirements

Core Engineering

• 5+ years of full-stack development (preferably in a fast-paced agency environment) with strong traditional fundamentals. You can architect, debug, and ship confidently without AI, which is exactly why you're so effective with it.
• Experience using technologies and frameworks like (but not limited to):
  • React
  • JavaScript / TypeScript
  • GraphQL
  • Node.js
  • Postgres & database modeling
  • HTML5, CSS3
  • Hydrogen & Oxygen
  • Liquid

• Experience working with multiple GitHub repositories, workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and actions in a team setting.
• A solid understanding of cross-browser/platform issues and code solutions.
• Working knowledge of UI/UX principles.
• Experience working in a cross-discipline environment with designers and other engineers to produce and vet ideas through prototyping early concepts.

AI-First Development

• Daily, fluent use of company-approved AI development tools (e.g., Claude Code) across the full lifecycle: scoping, coding, testing, documentation, and review.
• Experience building AI-powered features and automations with LLM APIs including patterns like tool use / function calling, RAG, and agentic workflows.
• Strong prompting skills and, more importantly, the judgment to critically evaluate, test, and take full ownership of AI-generated code.
• A track record of using AI to multiply output and quality; not to replace understanding.
• Genuine adaptability: you stay current as tools and models evolve, and you fold new capabilities into how you and the team work as the industry changes.

Shopify Expertise

• Deep understanding of the full Shopify ecosystem, including the Shopify APIs and theme/template development.
• Experience with Shopify Plus capabilities such as checkout extensibility, Shopify Functions, B2B, and multi-storefront operations.
• Strong Liquid syntax capabilities and an understanding of how Shopify works "under the hood."
• Familiarity with full-stack frameworks such as gadget.dev.
• Experience with Shopify and BigCommerce headless frameworks.

Security & Compliance

• Adoption of secure coding practices, including the current OWASP Top 10.
• Responsible handling of customer data and PII, with working awareness of GDPR, and CCPA/CPRA as they apply to eCommerce.
• Secure authentication and API integration practices: OAuth, token and secret management, web-hook verification.
• Responsible AI usage: you never expose credentials, customer PII, or client data to AI tools, and you review AI output for vulnerabilities before it ships.
